Do you think Bryce Harper could have pitched better than young Daniel did last night?
About Last Night
A couple times per season I like to keep the book. Keep score like the old times. Last night was that night. Usually, with a live box score on the MiLB app, I can track the game easily and still have time to eat, drink and socialize–but that means I’m on my phone more than I should be while enjoying a ball game. I got a worried text last night that I wasn’t responding as quickly as I usually would, and I responded, “Sorry. Keeping score. Up 4-3.”
The next text I sent was, “On our way, down 11-4.”
Yeah, that escalated quickly. On First Responders Night the “fire men” from the bull pen had their hoses hooked up to pure accelerant. If anything, it highlights (but also ruined) a nice outing from Parkland’s own Gabe Mosser. Mosser was one out from a quality start, with three runs in over 5.2 innings when he was pulled. In the stands, we agreed with the pitching change at the time because Mosser was starting to allow some louder contact. Same thing next inning after Josh Walker was able to finish things out for Mosser and started an inning of his own that was starting to get away from him. That’s when the Harper and Hoffman show started and the walks, hits, runs and home runs were aplenty.
Overheard in the stands, “You know I think if Harper leaves now he could get to Reading in time to lose their game too.”
Roster Update
RHP Gabe Mosser had been on the Development List, and had to be activated for last night’s start. To make room, RHP Nabil Crismatt was added to the Development List, signaling that he won’t likely start until late next week.
C Lou Albrecht, veteran of 23 professional games played, none above single-A Clearwater, was assigned to the ‘Pigs while the team was nearby in Jacksonville, and promptly busted his hamate bone. It’s better now, and he has been assigned to Reading. He was a free agent signee out of Junior College in 2023.

Leaks and Whispers: RHP Andrew Painter is set to start next week on Thursday, returning from his All Star Break rest and recover period. RHP Aaron Nola is set to pitch a live batting practice bull-pen on Tuesday in Philadelphia and if all goes well could pitch a rehab game next weekend some time. Something to watch.
