In the unlikeliest of scenarios, the IronPigs go for the sweep today versus the visiting Bulls. Walk off wins have been the flavor of the week and the ‘Pigs have come through each and every time. Do they have one more in them? It’s a Sun Day, Fun Day! Let’s Go!
About Last Night
The Tamales were never to be–just a passing distraction of well-designed merch. The cupcakes were good. The popcorn was not. Mosser pitched well–perhaps his best line as a ‘Pig: 6IP/5H/1R/0BB/5K. Harper came next and pitched well, as he’s been doing since he came off the Injured List. Zuñiga let in a run, but still held the lead. Michael Mercado with the blown save on two hits and a walk. Bickford worked around the placed runner in the 10th to give the bats a chance to walk it off. A Payton Henry bunt was thrown into the visitors dugout and Lantigua scored the game winner. Henry could be heard on video exclaiming that he had never bunted before.
Crawford had the night off. Rojas went 3-for-5 raising his batting average to .323 in Triple-A, with an .808 OPS.
IronPigs 45-19 with Otto Kemp in the lineup.

Roster Update
As expected, RHP Gabe Mosser was activated from the Development List prior to last night’s game in order to start for the IronPigs. RHP Adonis Medina took his place on the Development List in corresponding move. Thankfully, the Phillies did not move the most recent starting pitcher, Andrew Painter, into that spot because it would have made heads explode in Philadelphia.
Some of the smaller moves haven’t been updated this week, in this space, so here’s the latest printable roster: 082325 LHV Roster
Aidan Miller Watch: The shortstop prospect in Reading has been on a tear the past couple weeks–and really since the trade deadline. He has not played any other positions, and has committed probably too many errors. He’s also stolen 49 bases. It’s not clear exactly where he fits with the Phillies, but he’s starting to look the the prospect everyone thought he was, despite a slow start at Double-A. We do think we’ll see him here in Triple-A this season, even if it’s just for that last week after Double-A is finished. And the thought around here is that the trade deadline was hanging over his head a bit and now that it’s passed he’s started to relax and really eat at the Double-A level.
Game Day
Game Time: 1:35PM
Gates: Main/East/CF: 12:15PM — Club/West/Suites: 12:00PM
Tickets: Widely Available
Promotions:
- Old Time Baseball Celebration: Will they wear the Friday Faux-Backs? Will there be corn stalks?
- Sensory sensitive game: The first time they did this they really leaned into it and cut out all the rock music altogether. It was glorious. They’ve pushed the boundaries a bit the last couple years, but I do like the change of enjoying the sounds of the game.
- Post-Game Kids Run Bases
Weather: There is some shower risk today, but mostly pre-game. Could see some sun and 78 by the time it’s all said and done.
Pitching:
IronPigs: RHP Alan Rangel (5-3, 4.69)
Bulls: RHP Forrest Whitley (3-2, 1.82). The former 1st Round Pick of the Astros was Tuesday’s starter and is listed as the probable per media reports. MiLB has TBD listed, and Durham’s pitching has been a bit erratic this week due to call-ups and such.
Up Next
Pack your bags we’re going to Omaha. Well, if you’re on the team. The rest of us will be here at home contemplating trips to Reading to see the Fightin Phils take on Chesapeake (ne’ Bowie, AA-BAL) in their second-last home stand.
The IronPigs return home on Tuesday, September 2, for a standard home series with Toledo (AAA-DET).
See you at the Park(s),
