Fresh off a regulation win last night at home, the Hamilton Street Heroes take on the Laval Rocket at the PPL Center.

About Last Night
Phantoms fans stepped up and donated coats for the coat drive and dollar dogs were had by all (?). Out on the ice, Cooper Marody returned from injury to score a goal and provide a helper and that’s all the orange and black would need in front of a spirited defense and a sharp Ersson in the net.

Player Spotlight
C Cooper Marody #25
Marody is a right-shooting centerman or right wing who was drafted in the 6th round in 2015. He attended the University of Michigan for the next three years. He did not sign with the Flyers; his rights were traded to Edmonton for a third-round pick. He has played a couple games in the NHL with Edmonton, but has spent most of his time with AHL Bakersfield Condors. Last season the 6’0″ 195lb attacker notched 55 points in 52 games with 21 goals and 34 assists. He signed back with the Flyers this offseason, and passed through waivers to the Phantoms. He’ll turn 26 next month.
His scoring prowess is a major asset for the Phantoms. Hopefully he can stay healthy and out on the ice contributing on the score sheet almost every night. The depth he adds should make the players around him better, as well, including young forwards like Desnoyers and Foerster.
GAME DAY!
The Parking Authority now leads in my quest to not pay for parking, by a score of 4-2. I will update going forward. Still no word on what you get for a VIP parking space.
It’s Saturday Night Hockey Live and 90’s night. Expect plenty of 90s music and attempts to try to sell you tickets to that 90s concert coming up (those same jamokes played for free at a Phillies game, just saying). Good seats are still available for tonight’s game, but they are scattered so I’d advise purchasing online before heading uptown. STH Doors at 5:45PM at WFMZ or Air Products. All doors 6PM. Show time 7:05PM Hockey portion at 7:18PM.
Tonight’s game will be broadcast on Service Electric TV-2 as well as WFMZ 69 and AHL.TV. The radio call is available streaming through the Phantoms app, as well as over the air at AM-1470.
The Laval Rocket is the AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. The Phantoms defeated the Rocket 3-2 in overtime on November 5. Our old friend Danick Martel is #18. It will be good to see him although we hope he doesn’t score too many goals. LW Anthony Richard #90 is their big scorer, and #31 Cayden Primeau is their better goalie. The Rocket are in 6th place in the AHL North at 3-6-3. Last night they were in Utica where they won in overtime. On special teams, the Rocket are 15th in Power Play and 31st in Penalty Kill.

What To Watch
- Watch to see if Nolan Maier gets his first AHL start. Or, will Ersson come back for two in a row? Or a transaction bringing Nagle back from Reading? Or will Grosenick come back from injury?
- Watch to see if Cooper Marody can play two nights in a row. Watch to see if Ryan Fitzgerald or Evan Barratt are in the lineup tonight.
- If the young blueliners Wylie and Hogberg are out there, watch to see how they do. Is their lack of playing time down to performance?
- In talking to some folks yesterday, there seemed to be some concern with the toughness of our team. Are we getting pushed around? Are we responding to rough play?
- Watch to see which lowly penalty kill can rise up, with the #31 and #32 ranked units on display. The team that can kill more penalties probably wins tonight.
- That York/Belpedio pairing is a good one. Keep your eyes on them.
Up Next
3/3 in New England next weekend with Friday and Saturday in Providence before a Sunday matinee in Springfield. Then, Thanksgiving weekend Black Friday in Wilkes-Barre and a Saturday Night Hockey Live at the PPL Center versus Rochester. We’ll finally get a mid-week home game on the last day of the month versus Hershey.
See you at the arena,
@Kram207
