About Last Night
Some timely hitting and effective pitching and the Hometown Team stacked another win on the pile. That’s seven in a row and a 9-2 record overall. 9-2 ties their best start ever which came in 2012 ultimately ending after 10-2. The IronPigs now have a one-game lead over Jacksonville and Columbus in the entire 20-team International Leauge
Garrett Stubbs had two hits last night, as did scuffling outfielder Cal Stevenson. It was a good start by RHP Alan Rangel and only got sticky in the eighth when RHP Devin Sweet walked the bases loaded. A double play yielding a run plus a strikeout and he got out of it, though. RHP Michael Mercado shut things down in the ninth.
Check out the lineup on the day in 2012 when that hot start came to an end: Podsednik RF, Frandsen SS, D.Brown LF, H.Luna 3B, Thurston 2B, Overbeck 1B, D Mitchell CF, Gosewisch C, Suomi DH
Roster Update
Before last night’s game, INF Christian Arroyo, who had been day-to-day with a hamstring, hit the Injured List. Activated from the Development List was RHP John McMillon.
