By now you’ve heard, the IronPigs game for Friday night has been postponed. It will be made up as part of a double-dip on Sunday. If you had tickets for tonight, they can be exchanged for any game, based on availability, of equal or lesser value. Groups will attempt to reschedule with their team rep and group coordinator.
Saturday’s game will go on as planned, weather permitting. First pitch 6:35PM, Main Gates 5:15PM, Club 5:00PM.
Sunday will be a doubleheader, of the two 7-inning variety. First pitch will be 12:35PM, with all gates opening at 11:30AM.
The outstanding pitching matchup from today, detailed in this morning’s IronPigs Today column, will likely just push to Saturday.
Sunday will be interesting. If Abel is able [sorry] to go deep into Saturday’s game, then I could see Nabil Crismatt taking the ball in the first game and assuming he gets bulk work in, just running a bullpen in the second game and saving Kyle Tyler for Tuesday morning in Gwinnett.
Reading and Somerset, from New Jersey, postponed earlier in the day. They’ll play their doubleheader tomorrow (Saturday)
News and Notes:
- INF Weston Wilson has been playing this week with the Single-A Clearwater Threshers. He was in Left Field Tuesday and Wednesday and was pulled after two at-bats both days. He was out of the lineup Thursday. Could he be here for the weekend? [Looks Outside] Maybe not. Nope. Back in the lineup with Clearwater Friday.
- Ranger Suarez started for the Threshers last night and pitched three scoreless innings. Reports have his fastball at 92mph. If he comes north for his next rehab start, Reading is home next week for the B-Mets. Then again, if they don’t want him getting caught up in weather postponements galore, then maybe they keep him in Clearwater for another start next week. Here’s an under-the-radar reason: Because the Clearwater facility has the MLB team in the spring and does all the rehab, they have all they pitching monitors in place. As the top-level team, the IronPigs do as well. Reading does not. They have some ways to monitor things, of course, but they don’t have the level Clearwater and IronPigs have. If they want to monitor the pitches that closely, perhaps he doesn’t come north until the following week when the Pigs are home for Columbus.
- Top prospect Andrew Painter is set to start for Clearwater tonight and pitch two innings. It’s very possible that they keep him in Florida for his next start as well, but note Reading home for Binghamton next week, and IronPigs home for Columbus the following week. Painter ran into some adversity his second inning, totaled 37 pitches and they pulled him. Yeah, feels like another week or two in Clearwater. His velocity was good, though, and breaking pitches looked good as well.
- All told, we should be on “Rehab Watch” around here.
- The ‘Pigs had been kind of evasive about what constitutes a ‘Happy Hour’ in 2025. The beer specials remain, Miller Lite, Bud Light, Coors Light, Yuengling Lager and Michelob Ultra $3.00 for 16oz draft and Twisted Tea, Sam Adams Lager, and Sam Adams Seasonal $4.00 for 16oz from 5PM to 7PM. The dollar dogs have gone away, but will still happen on select dollar dog Tuesdays.
- While I do feel like they should have some level of food promotion for Happy Hour Thursdays (Sponsored by Twisted Tea), I cannot complain about the happy hour beer prices. In Reading, happy hour consists of $1 off draft beers, but only Yuengling products usually. AND, their price is higher than Coca Cola Park to begin with: My Miller at IronPigs is $10–at Reading it’s $12. At PPL Center, happy hour Wednesdays are few and far between, but they shrunk the cups to 12oz without telling anyone until fand (OK, it was just me) spoke up. So, the IronPigs Thursday Happy Hour brought to you by Twisted Tea is still a really good promotion, a good reason to come out to the park early on a Thursday if the weather is nice and a good value. But yeah, let’s get a food promotion going. Hot dogs are the cheapest and easiest to cook, so 3 for $5 if it’s about the money? $1 Pretzels? Rotating?
See you at the park,
Hockey versus baseball tomorrow,

Harry the K would call that Daytona-at-Clearwater battle a “slugfest”!
