We’re six games from the halfway point in the International League schedule. The team on top at the end of the day on Sunday will be your first-half champion and the host for the International League championship series at the end of September. With a three-game lead and six games to play, the IronPigs need some combination of four wins and/or Jacksonville losses.
A Father’s Day Miracle
OK, there wasn’t a miracle. But, we did get the game in following a lengthy rain delay. It was a sell-out for Dad’s day. And Andrew Painter did Andrew Painter things. That was ace material out there shutting down the Red Sox affiliate that has given us trouble all week and has banged around our rag-tag pitching corps. And, they saw Andrew before, because they were able to get some hits from him last Tuesday. The IronPigs needed a stopper and they got one.
Rochester Again
#7 prospect RHP Cade Cavalli is on this team now. He had been working back from injury earlier in the season. In fact, IronPigs beat him back on April 29 up in Rochester. #11 prospect OF Robert Hassell III is having a respectable year–the former #1 pick by the Padres in 2020. #12 prospect Yohandy Morales is a corner infielder and a #2 pick in 2023 out of Miami. Marquis Grissom Jr. is a pitcher and the #21 prospect. 2B Darren Baker, son of Dusty Baker is still with this team; we saw him visit last season.
