The IronPigs came home from Nebraska with some hot bats, and they just kept on hitting. A bunch of Tuesday roster moves, as per usual. And 10 million fans is a lot.

About Last Night
It was a beautiful night at the park in front of 5959 paid, with the Pigs welcoming fan number 10,000,000– who somehow wasn’t a season ticket holder or sitting in the club level or behind the plate.
But it wasn’t a promising start of the game for the ‘Pigs, as they left a lot of opportunities out on the base paths, with lack of timely hitting and some nice demonstrations of TOOTBLAN. Once the bats started mashing, though, there was no stopping them. Rincones had a three-hit night as his hot bat continues to rake. Hicklen added two hits–one of them the big fly variety–and three RBI. Cusick, Sweet, Harper and Hoffman all contributed scoreless innings. Cusick with his 1.2 was particularly dominant. It was a 10-3 win.
Tuesday Transactions
Like most weeks, the travel and the off day make Tuesday the day to announce all the recent player movement. Yesterday was no different:
– RHP Walker Buehler (#27) has been signed to a minor league contract (retroactive to 8/31)
– INF Luis Verdugo reinstated from the Development List
– RHP Phil Bickford placed on the Temporarily Inactive List (retroactive to 8/31)
– RHP Adonis Medina placed on the 7-day IL (retroactive to 8/30)
– C Garrett Stubbs has been recalled (to Philadelphia) (retroactive to 9/1)
– RHP Guillo Zuñiga has been released (retroactive to 8/31)

Hens In The Mud
RHP Drew Sommers and Chase Lee were optioned from Detroit and activated for this series. RHP Alex Cobb started a rehab assignment with Toledo and pitched last night. OF Parker Meadows is still with Toledo on MLB rehab.

Pitching:
IronPigs: RHP Andrew Painter (4-5, 5.36) They brought in Walker Buehler because Painter wasn’t an option to help the Phillies rotation down the stretch, when they want to go to a 6-man. No matter, he needs to put in his work, continue to get stronger, and re-find his command. He needs to continue to learn how to pitch to advanced hitters. The stuff is all there; watch to see if he can pound the strike zone and do it in a way that doesn’t look like batting practice.
Toledo: RHP Troy Watson (3-0, 1.45) is the listed probable via media release. He’s a former 15th round pick of the Blue Jays out of Northern Colorado. He’s been kicking around AA and AAA for a few years now and arrived in the Detroit organization via cash trade. It’s only since he’s been with Toledo for six starts that he’s become a full-time starter, but it seems to be suiting him. There doesn’t seem to be much out there in the way of a scouting report. He has been averaging about five innings since he’s become a full-time starter, so he is stretched out and hasn’t been getting rocked.
See you at the park,
@Kram207
