IronPigs Today: Hambone For The Win 9/20/25

One more night with a full park before we shut down 2025 tomorrow at 1:05PM.  Hambone has been installed as a -450 favorite in tonight’s Pork Race.

About Last Night

It was a weird one.  Some of the lights didn’t come on, reportedly a “bad fuse” and the game started with some serious shadows in left field.  They eventually got it fixed.  Neunborn held things together the best that he could, but like so many Phillies and Phillies-related pitchers, the RAV4th Inning is the bugaboo.  In reality, of course, you’re getting a little tired and you’re facing a lineup for the second time and that’s when things unravel.  Unlucky for the Toyota sponsorship–or maybe crazy like a fox to keep us talking about it.  The bats didn’t have it.  Aidan Miller had the night off.  Rojas got lifted half-way through the game (No reason given.  No injury seen.  No notes from Philadelphia by way of Arizona.  No on-field issues noted.).

Pigs fell 8-1 to Syracuse, but Syracuse was eliminated by Scranton when Scranton won.  The Yankees affiliate will head to Jacksonville this week for a best-of-three series.  The same team we took 4/6 from last week at their place.  We wish them…..Nope.  We wish it was next season.

Roster Changes

OF Brewer Hicklen passed through waivers and was sent outright to the IronPigs.  We’re not sure where he is or if he’ll appear in the last couple games here.  Would love to have him, but if he went home to Alabama or wherever, can’t blame him for missing the last two games.

INF Rafael Lantigua was optioned from Philadelphia.  He got a free trip out West, but didn’t get into a game.  Same token, if all the travel prevents him from reporting then no hard feelings and thanks for the good times this season.

LHP Tristan Garnett was called up from Reading and activated.  He pitched in last night’s game.

OF Justin Crawford (featured image) Has been cleared to do some baseball-type activities, but is still being monitored very closely for concussion symptoms.

Some players may also head to Clearwater for some post-season training in order to stay sharp during the playoffs.  “Black Aces” in the hockey parlance, to a degree.

Syracuse: CF Tyrone Taylor was sent to Syracuse on a MLB rehab assignment.  RHP Luis Moreno got the start yesterday as Suarez was predictably scratched.

Pitching:

IronPigs:  RHP Gabe Mosser (4-5, 5.35)

Syracuse: RHP Justin Hagenman (2-4, 6.02). Justin is 28yo, originally a late-round pick of the Dodgers out of Penn State in 2018.  He has 20 games and 12 starts with Syracuse this season including a loss to the IronPigs here at Coca Cola Park in April.  He pitched in Philadelphia for the Mets and got shelled back on September 9, but was probably taking one for his team that night.  He’s from Voorhees, NJ.

Up Next

Tomorrow is the final IronPigs game of the season and the final issue of IronPigs Today.  There will be a little different format, and I’ll be looking for some help, so please check back.

See you at the park,
